Datoldude--When you have the rifle back shooting, please give us a report on its performance!

You should see significant differences. With its rather strong taper, the original .30-30 is one of the best candidates for Ackley Improving. According to my Cartridges of the World, 10th ed, the .30-30AI gets 200 to 300 fps additional, within the pressure limits of the standard Win 94 action.

AI'ing also usually "produces reduced case stretching and easier extraction, compared to the more tapered version." (same source)
