I've always had good usage from old Weaver K4s. Dunno 'bout the widefield, but it's likely a keeper.

I'd go to a 3x9 or a 4x14 for a .22-250. It's generally a reliable 400-yard gun, and precision on little crittters is good.

I've been successful on prairie dogs to 300 yards with 7X and 9X, but 14X wouldn't be at all bad.
