I think it also depends on where you live. I live in the Pacific Northwest and 308 ARs are pretty popular around here. The AR 15s have the larger market share but 308s are the second choice for a lot of us. I just shoot paper with my LR308 but I get a real kick out of shooting it. And I really enjoy seeing how small a group I can shoot with factory ammo. My LR 308 will shoot .625 four shot groups at 100 yards with factory ammo! Every time I go to a local 100 yard outdoor range there is always 2 - 8 of us with 308 ARs and usually another 2-6 with 308 rifles. Before the recent craziness the LGS have always carried a good selection or 308 ARs and they didn't sit on the self for too long before being sold.
