It don't look bad at all. I would do a terrible blue job on it to give it that antique look. With that short barrel I don't think you will be happy with the shot pattern. I shoot #9 out of my NMA Sheriff at rats in the cow pasture. Lets just say I don't have to aim much LOL, I just point it in that general direction. But its fun shooting them off the 4 wheeler. I've never noticed any ill effects to the rifling. I melt my home brewed lube and drop the shot in it. Then spoon it out and make sure they are seperate on a paper towel to cool. So every pellet is coated with lube.
