Character,soul, whatever you want to call it. When holding Frankenstein, it's like a body part and not a tool.

Walnut is best,IMO. Not just for esthetics, but because it's easy to alter compared to synthetics.

Current wood on Frankenstein is mixed. The stock came from someone I know who upgraded his 870 to a trap stock.

The forearm is from my first 870, ca 1950.

If you do replace your wood, might as well make it fit you.
