Interesting thread. I suppose if one needs magnum power in a semi-auto then we would need to understand better what the need is. If it is just penetration then the 7.62x25 ought to do nicely. If it is normal two and four legged predators then I would think that the right loads in 10mm or .45ACP +P ought to be right nice. Now a herd of marauding elephants and we might be into 50AE territory but when the critters get that large I begin to wonder how many rounds we are going to be able to effectively use anyway.

That is not to say that we have to have a need for everything we want. Sometimes "I want it" is all you need... so to speak.

I will have to look up that .460, sounds interesting.
