For my entire career to date I have been with the same agency. Starting in the early '90s I went through the academy, and the next ten or so years using 1911s of one stripe or another. Then the XD was invented and I switched to that platform.

I passed up on the issue BHP, HK P-7, HK USP, and the Glock 22/23.

I have absolutely NO firsthand knowledge of a LEO needing to share mags or ammo. Anything about that is anecdotal at best.
