That's not a bad price. In my experience the 586's tend to run between $300 and $375. The one I got last year (6" barrel, excellent condition, mfd. 1985) was priced for $300.00. I traded an old 22 rifle and got $75.00 knocked off the price. If you want it get it. Though S&W will probably do the occassional "special" run of 586's they aren't coming back and the new models just aren't the same as the originals. Incidentally Smith stopped making the original 586 in 1999. In case you didn't know so they would all be pre-lock.
