I first would recommend Baretta or Taurus - I have a pt-99 in s.s. that is one beefy gun. Ultra reliable, built like a tank and pretty good selection of grips.
I have hogue rubber on them, but was looking for something different in g10 and there were several different suppliers I found.
I would also place my Baretta Px4 storm. It is a polymer frame, but the slide and controls make it feel much beefier than others. Along with the heavy slide and rotating barrel, the felt recoil is not bad. Great gun.
