Two basic uses for collapsible stocks
on rifles or shotguns:
1) For maneuvering in tight spaces, such as buildings, or for carrying in a vehicle (or in the example you gave, fitting into a case, I guess...);
2) In the event that more than one person will use it, the length of pull can be adjusted for each shooter's use.
There are probably other uses, but those are the two I know.
