HammerIt on this forum has a great procedure for buffing Stainless Revolvers to a "like Nickel" shine. He uses 2,000 grit Wet/Dry Sandpaper to remove imperfections, then buffs with Mothers Mag Polish and a towel.

The results are pretty impressive, from the pictures he's posted here, and elsewhere.
