I think that all of 'em have a referral service, especially for those attorneys who have special qualifications in a particular area of the law.
You're right there in Richmond - - Won't even cost you a long distance call. Better still, go by their office and visit a bit. Make sure they understand you are NOT trying to get free legal advice, but trying to pay your money to a lawyer with the correct knowledge to be able to help you.
I know - - It's easy to poke fun at lawyers, but most state bars have a real interest in seeing that their members practice the kind of law for which they're competent. A highly qualified domestic relations attorney would likely be on thin ice trying to do maritime salvage law. The finest oil & gas practitioners in Texas or Oklahoma might be totally out of their depth in a personal injury or probate case.
