In my opinion the carrying handle is the most useless AR accessory there is. In the military you'd get slapped if you ever carried your M16 by the carrying handle ("It's not a ****ing briefcase!!!").

As soon as they started making rifles with removable ones the first thing everyone did was take it off and put on an optic and a flip-up rear site.

Removing the carrying handle and installing a rear sight both allows you to mount optics and also gets rid of a completely useless part.
