Buy a 5" S&W 1911 made from carbon or stainless steel; might get one with an adjustable rear sight.
(Wilson 8-rd 47D magazines seem to work flawlessly in numerous examples. Holsters can be a $15 Uncle Mike Kydex Belt Holster and similarly-priced magazine pouches. But buy a good belt.)
