Other than the stock and handguard the main differences are that the Air Service rifle had a special fixed rear sight, without the normal leaf, a band without a screw, and a short stock but without any hole in the front end. The stock is 29 inches long, the handguard 5 3/4 inches.

There have been many fakes made; most use BAR magazines and have the magazine well altered to accept them. The original magazine did not fit up into the rifle, it replaced the standard floorplate.
