I personally like the idea of a different rifle, like the M&P. You could spend quite a bit on the conversion kits. Why not get a second one altogether? Two rifles is better than one anyway.
Let's say you want to go varminting with your .22, you still have your .223 at home for the Mrs. to use if something crazy goes down while you are out. Just me...
