Used PPC revolvers on the open market can be a mixed bag: True PPC revolvers were built by knowledgeable and experienced gunsmiths, and their guns definitely delivered. There are some, though, that might simply look like a PPC revolver because someone slapped a bull barrel & rib on it. When in the market for a PPC revolver, then, it's best to find one from a known 'smith, IMO. AFAIK, the late Steve Velchoff (d. mid-80s) was a respected gunsmith who did some nice revolver work, so I suspect this piece is the real deal.
A note on PPC revolvers already touched on by others - despite looking like something Darth Vader would carry, they're target revolvers, designed to shoot target loads, and would be a poor choice for hunting, silhouette or even HD.
