Need some assistance please

If one were to want to get an AR in 9mm what would one look for?

My past experiences with the AR was in the USAF over 20 years ago and that was only during the once a year (or less often) qualifying shooting.

I recently picked up a S&W M&P 15-22 and have enjoyed it a lot. I then got a Hi-Point 995 carbine and find that it is fun. Cheaper so if I didn't like it I wasn't out a great deal of money.

So naturally I would like to have an AR style in 9mm (or 45 if available.) This is just for plinking and I don't really have anywhere at this time for shooting a larger caliber.

At a local gun store I saw a CMMG AR 9mm with a price of $1200. Is that a normal (average) price? I have done some looking on the intraweb and it does appear high.

Is there another manufacture I should look at instead?
