You shouldn't get any flak for that. When they were around $400 and less, the WASRs were raging bargains, provided you got one without a canted front sight base or loose magwell. The chrome-lined barrel is a plus, as well. A good WASR is just as reliable and accurate as any other AK.
At the $1000+ or so they are selling for today, though, I wouldn't even look twice at one. That's just a crazy price, considering the other options out there.
