Such "extras" include all damages that reasonably flow from the defendants' actions. These include damages to compensate the plaintiff for being physically attacked without legitimate cause and having to incur legal costs to seek redress, as well as damages sufficient to deter the bad actors from repeating the acts.
The missed movie is only the tip of the iceberg for what this guy is legally (and rightfully) entitled to. This isn't a case where someone has a meaningless injury and wants disproportionate damages.
