I myself choose to carry C1 everywhere I am legal to do so ( OC or CC ) because perceive every place I go as a potential threat. I never want my guard to go down. Remember the saying about car wreaks within on mile of your home. People get on auto pilot and stop paying attention. We should always be on guard and ready when we are out and about and not destination determine your level of awareness.
