Get some lacquer thinner and a solvent-proof toothbrush.
Wet the brush and gently scrub the filling out. Apply a lube after it's dry to prevent rust.

Lacquer thinner will not harm bluing, parkerizing, or plating. It might attack some of the paint-type gun finishes and some sights like white dot or fiber optic type sights.
