I've never had a problem using grease on the cam pin slot, bolt lugs, and bottom/sides of BCG. My current choice of grease is red wheel bearing grease out of the tub I use for packing bearings.
My SIL did 2 tours in Iraq and his unit's plan was oil is good and cleaning is time well spent. As long as a mag was in place, the dust cover was closed, and muzzle covered, very little dust got into the action. A good amount of oil prevented the carbon from siezing up any parts during high volume "events".
I don't use my AR(s) in that fashion-not yet anyway. If I do, I'm going to follow his recommendations until I find differently.
