Marlin 60 feed issues

I picked up a old marlin 60 (SN 21xxxxx - so i'm guessing from 79) and it constantly fails to feed properly. I've cleaned it and so on yet just about everytime i put a round through the rifle the round jams between the slide and the chamber, with such force as to occasionally bend the round.

i've heard that this is a common issue with old marlin's... i am curious what i can do to fix the issue, because believe it or not when the rifle fires like it should for sometime as many as three rounds its a blast to shoot.

Is it the feed throat that needs replacing? and if so how difficult a job is that to do? and what style feed throat do i need to get, old or new? any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
