As for the gun itself, just get good with irons. That's all you need. Maybe you want a scope for whatever reason later, and that's fine, but get good with irons.

As for a cleaning kit, all you really need is some q-tips, an old shirt, and a dental tool is a good start. Pick up some patches and a cleaning rod or a bore snake for the barrel and some good oil (Break-Free, CLP, etc) and you'll be good to go.

Maybe, down the line, you'll want to pick up a range bag to haul mags, ammo, targets, a Gerber (hint hint) and whatever else you want to take on range days.
