I shot those from a 3" Charter Bulldog for a number of years. 3.9 grains of Bullseye, Federal 150 primer. They would drill 1.25" at 25 yards with that light practice load.

Don't fret the book OAL dimensions. As long as it doesn't protrude from the cylinder of your revolver you are fine. Buy a taper crimp die for it and make your brass last longer.
