Stuff happens. You might try a lock box that is firmly attached to the vehicle if you feel the need to store you gun in there. They are lockable too. I know vehicles can be easily broken into, but even if that happens, the lock box contents would be safe. Contents maybe even safer if you disguise the box to look like an ordinary tool case.
