A guy at my club did the same thing and a lot of them didn't fire.
As far as decapping them, it's easy and not dangerous for two reasons:
1) it will be up inside your die if it did go off
2) it takes more speed then you can get pulling on the handle to generate a hard enough hit. I tried to make one go off and couldn't. They are not miniature nuclear bombs.
