When Kentucky finally mandated issuance of CC licenses (I don't like the term "permit") fourteen or fifteen years ago our Louisville newspaper, which had been bought by Gannett and was very anti-gun, shrieked to editorial high heaven. Innocent blood flowing in the streets, and so on.

After a year or so, they did a study that showed that concealed-carry license-holders were less likely than the general population to be arrested on any charge, not just gun-related offenses. It became very clear that those of us who legally own and carry firearms are pretty law-abiding folks.

The findings surprised hell out of them; but to their credit, they published the story.

Makes a pretty nice talking point.
