I have its older brother the Marlin 917v, it doesn't have the adjustable trigger otherwise they are about the same. I think it was made when Marlin was Marlin instead of Remington.

From 65 yards I produce groups like this reliably shooting prone with a bipod.
Mine has killed a lot of squirrels. Any squirrel I can see inside of 120 yards is in mortal danger. When the .17 HMR 17 grain V-max hits them, they fall out of the tree and are dead before they hit the ground.
I have loved mine though, bought it used and I think someone did not realize what they had.
From 65 yards I like to use 1/4" targets. I like to use symbols on playing cards for targets.
If you don't mind paying 13-15 dollars for 50 rounds of ammo, you will love the rifle.
