+1 on both. They
ARE going to run out of M1 Garands, M1 Carbines, and M1903s. The supply of these rifles is finite; it's simply a matter of time. Once this happens, the operation will probably be scaled back to selling .22LR bolt rifles and supplies for school marksmanship programs.
It was determined years ago that the CMP will
NEVER have access to the military's stockpiles of M14s and older M16 variants, even if they were rendered semi-automatic or sold as parts kits. There's a statement to this effect somewhere on their website. In the current political climate, it
really ain't gonna happen.
