I have a Rem. 700 BDL from 1989. I am rescoping the rifle with a scope with a larger objective(50mm). The old scope was maybe 40mm obj. and it barely cleared the rear sight. I removed the rear sight but now have a couple of unsightly(no pun) holes in the top of the barrel. If I were to buy some headless screw plugs, what screw pitch size would I need. I think the diameter is 1/8" but what pitch? 8-40? Thanks for enlightening an old guy.
