I would go with the 6.5" myself. Not as handy, but easier to shoot longer ranges. I would suggest you consider different grips.

I would add that MOST do not allow you to carry a modern handgun while doing the black powder thing. I personally think that states should open up the black powder deer season to straight walled handgun calibers 357 or larger. Heck, they opened bow season in some states to cross bows??
