If you're itching to buy one right now, then I say put some ointment on it and buy neither. I haven't seen a huge rash of problems with the Taurus 1911 compared to other model types of theirs. Have there been reports? Yes. For the price of one these days and the features they have, it's worth a look. There's several turn-offs I encountered with it personally.

I'm sure Ruger's 1911 is be a sure bet.....soon. Problem is, it's only been out for a few months. Given their track record lately, I'd wait until the market is saturated with them. You'll save yourself some money and the chances of being sure you'll have a keeper will greatly increase.

If you still can't wait, then I'd gamble on the Ruger.
