bore scope

Peter;
I think I'd buy another gun! The scope is a fine tool to have and would really show what the inside of your favorite piece looks like but the striations of buttoning or "cut rifling" to me are of no consequence - you don't even need a "straight" barrel to shoot well.
We had a Sako AII in 22-250 and at 200 yards would shoot dime size groups at that distance (as hard as that is to believe) but I sold it and we rebarreled it to 308. The old Sako bbl? It ran out in the lathe at least .035 O.D. and looked like a snake wiggling when looking through it turning! Yet it really shot!
Buy a surplus military rifle (Mauser 98 - VZ24) and try your hand at sporterizing it. I like Mr. Kunhausens book on them. Good shooting.
