What's sad is that the first proposal on "making schools safer" is adding resource officers and counselors to schools. What the heck would more resource officers or counselors done to prevent or minimize Newtown?

I understand the need to maintain the mental health of children, and to do so in the school that they attend, but should there not be concrete proposals on how to protect our children in that environment when someone decides to shoot the school up.

How it is acceptable to have armed security guards or on/off-duty police at malls, movie theaters, churches, government buildings, college campuses, store parking lots, street fairs, sporting events, etc., but not K-12 grade schools?
