Appleseed 2-Day Rifle Clinics in CT: Nov 14-15 and Dec 12-13, 2009

Folks,

We have a couple of Appleseed shoots in Connecticut this November and December.

Nov 14-15: Hartford Gun Club - East Granby, CT.
Dec 12-13: Northwest CT Sportsman's Association - Colebrook, CT

And as always, the full schedule of shoots nationwide can be found here.

Please read below for more information about Project Appleseed. Feel free to PM me for any more information or reply in this thread.

Good shooting to you,
CJ

What is Appleseed?
At its core, an Appleseed shoot is a 2-day basic rifle marksmanship clinic. You will learn to shoot 4 Minute of Angle or better (4 MOA is roughly 4 inches at 100 yards or 20 inches at 500 yards) using only a sling and rifle (no bipods, no rests, no benches). This is a chance for you to get off the bench and learn the traditional rifleman skills of our colonial founders. As a nation, we have lost this basic skill over the years. It is Appleseed's mission to ensure it is not completely forgotten.

In addition to learning traditional marksmanship, you will hear the history of this nation's founding like you have never heard before. Along with traditional rifleman skills, the nation has forgotten all too quickly the events that sparked the American War for Independence. Project Appleseed wants to ensure these events are kept alive today in the minds of all Americans and not just relegated to dusty books in your local library.

We have had everyone from designated marksmen in service to our nation to casual weekend plinkers attend Appleseed shoots and they all come away learning something new.

Why should I come?
There are a number of great reasons why you should come. Bring yourself and 2 or 10 friends! Here are just some highlights:
  • Learn basic rifle marksmanship
  • Learn your heritage
  • Qualify for the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) to purchase surplus battle rifles like M1 Garands and M1 Carbines at steep discounts delivered to your door (yes, your door, not an FFL)
  • Qualify as a Rifleman on our Qualification Test and earn a spot in the Top 1% of all rifle owners in terms of shooting ability
  • Learn today and teach tomorrow - Project Appleseed is growing. We are doubling our shooting events nationwide each year. In 2010, we plan on having 400 shoots across the country. We not only teach rifleman marksmanship but we teach how to teach
  • It's inexpensive! Where else can you get 2 days of quality training for $70? For some of you, it's free (see below)!

How do I sign up to attend?
Pre-registering for an event is highly recommended. The past three Appleseed shoots in CT this year have been sold out or near full capacity. To ensure your spot on the line, please visit the following pre-registration pages:

Hartford Appleseed Nov 14-15 Pre-registration link
Colebrook Appleseed Dec 12-13 Pre-registration link

The cost is $70 for 2 days. $45 for one-day shooters. At these ranges, there is also a $10/day range fee to accommodate our gracious hosts. Women, those under 21, active military, and elected officials shoot for free!

Logistical information about these specific Appleseed events can be found in the following links.

To help you prepare for Appleseed, please visit the following information center:

Lastly, for information about the Civilian Marksmanship Program and how to qualify to purchase surplus military firearms, ammunition and accessories, you may visit the following link. An Appleseed event is a qualifying event for the CMP. In addition, the RWVA, who sponsors Project Appleseed, is a CMP-affiliated club.

Come join the fun, learn a bit, and spread the word!
Project Appleseed has doubled in size every year because our program works. We have grown primarily through word-of-mouth based on a reputation of providing quality instruction and education. People come to shoot but stay for the history.

See you there!
