Dave,

I have what I think is a fairly desirable M 27. Its a 27-2, 5" barrel, nickle plated, TT/TH, solid (no red insert in the front/no white outline in the rear) adjustable rear sight/ramp front, the cylinders are recessed and the barrel is pinned.

Serial number range is N 6275XX. Std S&W oversize 'target' grip panels are not serial numbered to the frame.

Can you tell me a bit more?
