I hate the look of Hogues, and I think the cobblestone finish is pretty worthless in terms of grippiness. But no matter what I try, I come back to the rubber finger groove grips on my 1911.

I've found the best prices on Hogues of all shape and sizes, on Amazon.

With about half an hour of stippling, they look and feel a whole lot better IMHO. Since I stippled those grips, I have come to find out that finer-grain stippling is much more "grippy". I now do that on all of my Hogue grips.
