Interestingly enough, the 1911 originally had a non-beveled FP stop. The bevel was a part of the "A1" refinements. The reason for changing to the beveled part was because of the complaints from GI's about it being to difficult to rack the slide against the hammer. You'll find that this part makes a noticeable difference.
