You didn't say what for and that makes a huge difference. For general use I'd probably look at a Savage Model 25 classic. For a varmint rifle probably a Model 25 Varmint. For a budget target rifle a Model 10FP but I'd plan on saving for a better stock for the FP. There are lots of good rifles but those are in your price range and quite good.
