$400 to $500 will be you an Aimpoint PRO or an XPS series EoTech, which are both high quality and dependable optics. At $300 or below I would probably look into a Vortex Strikefire or Sparc. While not quite as nice as an Aimpoint, they seem to work pretty well and they have a lifetime warranty should anything go wrong.
