2.25" barrel vs 3.14" Ruger SP 101 series ....

In my opine, a 2.25" snub barrel makes more horse sense for deep concealment, speed from difficult spots(ankle, pocket, bag-purse, etc) or for a light-weight factor. I liked my 2.25" snub SP101 .357magnum in the early 1990s. It was DA only & my very first firearm, .

The longer 3.14" tube is better for .357magnum/.38spl +P ballistics & recoil mgmt. Author, tactics trainer & sworn LE officer Massad Ayoob has written a few gun press articles on the topic, saying the 3.14" type is good for regular belt carry or as a 2nd gun.
The newer LCR revolver is ideal for deep concealed carry but the snub SP101 still has 1000s of loyal fans.
