I was able to scrounge some lead ballast weight several years ago. Think about a 2X4 lumber, 6 feet long. When melting them, I found blue coloration in the metal. The bullets would show up with little lines of blue in them.

I don't see that the discoloration harmed the bullets at all. Of course, if it's plumbous, I'm apt to make bullets with it.
