Never mind my recommendation on a Glock. I have been away from this board for a couple of years. Now, I remember why. I am not a Glock "fanboy", but I do recognize a good weapon when I actually use one, despite what the local gunsnob at the club says. Of which I am NOT a part of and have no need to BE a part of. I use what I recommend, and if that doesn't fit the same recommendation of others, well, it is after all MY opinion based on years of experience and still being around to talk about it.
To the Original Poster: Yes, there are plenty of good 9mms out there. It will be very costly for you to go and buy each one to try for yourself to see what works and what does not. If you have the finances, go for it. I can tell you that I have seen enough failures from certain models to consider them inherent and will not use those models. All pistols can fail if not maintained, even Glocks.
