Thanks for the tip, I've been thinking something in a 225 might be the best compromise, as living out here in Arizona, longer shots are likely in some parts of the state. (Although most of my local friends, who have hunted here for years, say they have taken most game at under 200yds. Still, a lot different than Western NY, hunting with shotguns!)

My rifle is a BLR81, by serial # list on Brownings web-site, built 1982. Bought it off a good friend who finally found his dream Savage 99-358. Has one spare mag, Redfield base & rings, and I picked up a Weaver V3 from Natchez, on sale for $99. Plan to use this for shorter range hunting, out to maybe 200-250yds, and pick up something a little flatter shooting for more open areas.
