Update: heard back from Claire McCaskill today. Seems she supports renewing an AWB, and going for universal background checks, but claims she will protect the rights of citizens to keep "appropriate " weapons. She also said she hoped the NRA would be "reasonable."

I would have to be surprised, in order to be disappointed...
