Not from my experience (nor the experience of other competitive shooters as discussed at such places as the Brian Enos forum). My "custom" 9mm bullets are currently cast 156-158 grains, powered by 3.2 grains of Vihtavuori N-320 giving me a power factor of 130, with velocity around the 830 fps mark in my Shadow. This is engineered to provide a very soft shooting experience in order to gain a competitive edge. Although pressures are high, the acceleration curve is apparently more smoothed out temporally which gives more of a pushing sensation than a sharp jolt. All I know is that it's a world of difference in felt recoil from my experiments with lighter bullets.
