Having hunted coyotes for pelts, I can tell you a 22-250 will kill but damage a lot of pelts. Since you want then for pelts, I would recommend a 223 with 40-45 gr SP.

22LR will kill them, but they will cover a lot of ground between where you shoot them and where they decide to lay down, and you will lose a lot of them.

22 WMR will kill them within 75-100 yds, so a 17 HMR will likely do the same.
