Reloading 7.7x58 Jap

i was recently given a japanese type 99 arisaka. i picked up 3 boxes of ammo at cabelas, the only i could find was hornady stuff. 25$ a box.
I'd like to start reloading for this, however I havent ever dealt with 7.7 jap before.

doing some basic reading online told me that some poeple use 308 slugs, and 30-06 brass that is cut down. how much truth is there to this? I'd like to use the proper stuff just to be safe until I get more familiar with this to start altering cases of different calibers.

Anyone have info on where to get slugs and brass? Im probably also going to post something on the other section here as a WTB for the brass, in case anyone has any lying around. other than that, i havent seen any 7.7 at gun shows, only 6.5 jap, which of course, is no use to me.

And as for dies...
recommended brand? and where is a good place to get what I would need?
